December 25- Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas to all. We hope you will have a wonderful Christmas day full of love and family. Just in case our Christmas card didn't make it to your home yet, here it is for your viewing pleasure.
Mommy, Daddy and Santa were all in agreement that the babies had been two of the best babies this year and deserved lots of presents under the tree this year! Aren’t first Christmases exciting?

Santa left a bag full of goodies for each baby. Of course, he couldn’t fit everything into their bags, so a number of presents still ended up under the tree.
The stockings were hung- and filled!
Our stockings overfloweth a bit. It always seems that the stockings are just too small, and the “stuffing’s” begin to spill out onto the mantel. No complaints here!
Our first Christmas as a family of 4! Amazing.

Always the first order of business on Christmas morning- open those stockings! Ella and Sterling really would have been completely satisfied with just the goodies they found in their stockings. We probably spent over a half hour just exploring the toys and trinkets that kept falling out. They received fun filled rolling balls, link-a-roos, books, socks (of course!), stacking cups, raggedy Anne and Andy dolls, tiny little mittens, and a container of Dutch Apple Pie baby food. A big to do, since I’ve never let them try any of the “dessert” baby foods.
It may not be his first time on an airplane, and certainly won’t be his last, but it is the first time Sterling has been the pilot. Grand-Mere gave Sterling his very first sit and ride airplane- decked out in Mickey Mouse. And so he made his maiden flight (with the assistance of Mommy) through the tunnel of boxes. Looks like he’s got this flying thing down- he is the grandson of a pilot after all. Notice Ella waiting very patiently for her turn. I think she was about to die to try out the new toy!
Cowgirls can ride Moose too, right? Santa Claus left this great plush Moose rocking horse for the babies. Ella has already decided this is great fun.
Just wanted to include a picture of Mom who is looking so much better these days. I'm so grateful not only to have the babies, and Michael here for this Christmas, but to have Grand-Mère too! Makes Christmas truly merry.
Since Sterling had to spend Thanksgiving in the walker, he got the privilege of eating Christmas dinner in the highchair. He sat between Mommy and Daddy and tried his first bite of mashed potatoes, which he thumbed his nose at. Just as well, since they were mashed with milk and I don’t want him having cow’s milk until after a year because of his sensitive stomach. So, instead, Daddy just fed him his sweet peas, and a couple of banana puffs for dessert. Perhaps next Christmas he’ll get to enjoy some of the prime rib, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli casserole, sautéed mushrooms, crescent rolls, congealed salad, and sparkling apple cider. Oh, and Buche de Noel for dessert!
Oh no, Ella also tried her first bite of mashed potatoes. She must truly take after her namesake, because she LOVED this new food. The first Eleanor, my Grandma, would be so happy to see this little girl eating mashed potatoes. She ate an entire scoop of potatoes, and then watched every bite I took very carefully. Unfortunately for Ella, she didn’t get any more potatoes, just some squash baby food and banana puffs. Oh well, not too much longer little Miss.
Jennifer didn't make it home for Christmas this year- she headed to Costa Rica at 9:30 this morning. We all missed her, but we’re sure she’s having a wonderful time on some sunny beach. So Mom is missing one of her children this year, but here’s a picture of the ones who were able to be there.
This is insane. Here it is, the end of Christmas, and we still haven’t finished opening all the kids’ Christmas gifts. Looks like Christmas will be lasting a little longer for Ella and Sterling this year. Every time we opened a gift for them they were more interested in eating the wrapping paper, or playing with the last gift they opened, and couldn’t care less about the newest gift. I’ll have to remember this next year and just get them a couple of gifts, and invest the rest into their college savings.
