October 18-A new point of view
This weekend on a drive down to Camp Walker in Daegu, we decided to turn the children’s car seats forward facing. It’s a whole new way of traveling for these two! They really enjoyed being able to see us when we turned around to smile at them. I think they were also fascinated with the new view of the highway. They aren’t whizzing down the highway backwards now! Of course, the downside to all this is they can see us now, but can’t understand why we aren’t unstrapping them from their car seats. This left me threatening to turn them back to rear facing many times during our trip.
28 months later Sterling was excited to find the TV screen installed in the ceiling of the Durango. It’s a funny story actually. Several years ago Michael installed a huge sound system with multiple TV screens and DVD players in the Durango. I wasn’t exactly on board with this ridiculous idea, so in an attempt to prove that he had “done this for our family” which at the time consisted of just the two of us and 3 cats, he said he had installed the rear TV screen for our future children to watch during car trips. The only problem with that was of course that children are required by law to remain rear facing for the first year, and then may remain rear facing for as long as the car seat allows (ours go up to 35 lbs. rear facing!!!). Yup, so if you do the math, including the 36 weeks I was pregnant, that plan finally came to fruition 28 months later! Yeah, I still think it was a little dumb to install that screen so early.
