December 27- Little Picasos

Eve came over today to help us try out one of the fun things found in the kid’s stockings this year…window markers. I think Crayola has made a big “opps” with this idea. Sure, all the kids had a great time drawing all over the windows, but you better believe that later during the day when I brought out the crayons, the first thing Sterling did was run to the window to color. It’s too difficult a concept for little ones to grasp. How can I tell them they may color on the window with one utensil, but not the other? I think these may be getting packed up for a couple more years. As fun as they are, I’m afraid it’s just too mixed a message.
It is kind of fun to see the lines they create!
The Grinch took a little warming up to this year. He is a bit of a scary looking bloke, isn’t he? All the green! When we first unpacked him earlier this month, neither baby wanted anything to do with him. Ella started shaking her head, walking backwards and saying “no” the first time she met him. Sterling simply pushed him aside and wanted nothing more to do with him. I guess they’ve warmed up to him now that he’s sat out for a few weeks and hasn’t harmed them in anyway. Now they’re a little more eager to push his button and watch his red heart light up.
Someone gifted the children with these beautiful words found on the wall of Mother Teresa’s children’s home in Calcutta, India, and they were so beautiful I wanted to share them with everyone:

Do It Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical,
and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some
false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone
could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis,
it is between you and God;

It was never between you and them anyway

-Mother Teresa

Words we should all live by.

And to all a Goodnight from Sterling, Ella and the Grinch
