September 13- Good morning Bella

Ella drinks her milk and cuddles her teddy bear tightly... she's heard the news that we're about to get on the road again. "Don't worry teddy. Just stick with me and we'll be fine wherever we go."
We hate to see our wonderful trip to the beach come to an end, but Michael has to get back to Korea, work, and the "real" world. We've certainly enjoyed our carefree week at the beach! Bon voyage!
The dining room. Okay, so the dining room was never actually dined in during our visit, but that was due to all the wonderful restaurants to enjoy at Kiawah. I think it's safe to say we all gained 10lbs. each after a week of five star food, and delectable desserts!
The family room. This is probably the most beautifully appointed villa we have stayed in during our 15+ years of coming to Kiawah. Everything was just so nice! The decorating was just over the top, but yet it retained a relaxed "beachy" feel. We certainly had a very comfortable visit in this lovely villa.
The balcony. This is one of the three balconies the villa offered looking out to the ocean. We all enjoyed spending lots of time watching the sun set for the day (and a few sunrises thanks to Ella and Sterling) on the balcony.
View to the left. I will certainly miss this view! What beautiful scenery to take in every morning, huh?
View to the right. You can see the little board walk we walked down every day to get to the beach. Kiawah Island prides itself on being a nature preserve and sanctuary as well as a resort, so they attempt to save the natural sand dunes and it's foliage where ever possible, hence the board walk to the beach.
Grand-Mere has been debating a move to the low country for several years now. Well, a year after a life changing surgery, she has finally decided to take the plunge. While she won't be saying goodbye to Atlanta or the family home just yet, she will be spending time at her new little bungalow on Wadmalaw Island, just outside of Charleston, SC. While she'll be commuting back and forth to Atlanta for doctor's appointments and to finish out her remaining political commitments, I think she's hoping to call South Carolina home. Her little house is just perfect for her! It was probably built sometime in the 1940's and has continued to be occupied by the original family. It's literally in the middle of the marsh, on a tidal creek. When the tide comes in, her house is surrounded on three sides by water, but when the tide is out she's surrounded by a great field of sea grass. It's just a beautiful and charming little place, and I think she'll be quite happy there!
This is a view the front yard, looking out the front door. I hope you can see the little driveway leading away from the house and into the mossy oak draped dirt road. It's like entering into an enchanted forest!
This is Grand-Mere's nearest neighbor...a deep sea fishing boat parked in the deep water tidal creek that adjoins her marshy backyard. Talk about secluded! But it's exactly what she was hoping for.
Grand-Mere may not have her boxes unpacked yet, but she has a giant giraffe fully assembled and awaiting a couple of little playmates. What fun! Ella was very happy to make herself at home in her new play tent.
This is the view looking out one of the windows in the sun room. What a picturesque view!
