January 24- "No rules. Just right"
Tonight we just had to get out of the house. We’re all getting a bit of cabin fever lately while the weather has us spending so much time indoors. Add to that the fact that we still don’t have water, and it makes cooking dinner a little tricky, and washing dishes nearly impossible. So we headed over to one of our favorite all American restaurants, Outback Steakhouse, for a delicious dinner with no dishes to wash!
When you order a kids meal here it comes with a fresh squeezed juice. I think I’ve mentioned before that you really have to water down the juice just to be able to suck it through the straw, but the kids love it. The only problem is, we only need one kids meal to split between Ella and Sterling at this point…and they still leave leftovers! So, that means only one juice to share as well. No problem there! Ella is more than gracious when it comes to sharing with Sterling…as long as she gets to hold the cup. She’s obliged to let him have as much as he cares to drink but heaven forbid he try to take the cup from her!
Ella would like to tell everyone how you’re supposed to behave in restaurants….”very quietly, shhhh”. We're working on it.
Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. Outback in Korea even offers the classic Outback deserts! This dessert looked too good to pass up tonight. I don’t think I’ve ordered a dessert at a restaurant since the kids were born. They’re usually just about at their maximum good behavior time by the time we finish with out main courses so we never even consider dessert. Tonight they were so well behaved through dinner that we actually got to order a yummy dessert…plenty to split four ways! Maybe always taking them to dinner with us is starting to pay off? That’s two successful dinners out in a on week period!
Oh, gosh! This has become Ella’s new saying. Everything that distresses her is met with a very dramatic “oh, gosh!” When Sterling got ice cream all over his face, she was the first to point it out with an “oh, gosh!” That’s her little finger pointing out Sterling’s messy face. That girl doesn’t miss a beat.
Everybody loves Dunkin Donuts. While Sterling and Daddy went to get the car from the parking deck, Ella and I ducked into Dunkin Donuts to pick up some breakfast for tomorrow morning. The girls working in there had a fit over Ella and all brought out their camera phones to take pictures with her. I certainly don’t mind all the paparazzi type attention the kids get here, but I have to wonder how surreal my kid’s lives are at times. How many toddlers spend their outings posing for pictures with complete strangers? I was really proud of Ella tonight. She actually waved at all the girls in Dunkin Donuts and said “an-yo” which is “hi” in Hangul. Everyone had a fit over the little American baby saying "hi" in Korean!
Just like in the states!
