August 24- Breakfast for tired Mommies
Morning came very, very early. Actually, morning arrived promptly at 7 am, when we all just spontaneously woke up. I guess we’re just too programmed to wake up early with our children to be able to enjoy sleeping in. That stinks! Our one day to sleep as late as we want and we can’t force our bodies to sleep. Only 5 hours of sleep! I haven’t been so tired when waking up since the babies were newborns, not sleeping through the night! Ugh. By 7:30am Michael was calling to ask me how to run the washing machine at our house (don’t give him too hard of a time, it is written in Hangul after all). Of course, even if we did wake up way too early, we didn’t actually get out of bed until 9am. After all, it was nice to not have to feed breakfast to small children or referee a fight over a favorite toy! Last up on our list of things to do…enjoy a delicious breakfast that we did not have to prepare nor clean up after. Look at this Belgium waffle, yummy, right?
We all had a great time, and I think we all surprised ourselves with how well we handled being away from our children for 24+ hours. We headed home on the express bus at noon, broke as a joke, tired like you wouldn’t believe, and very excited to see our babies. When I got home Michael had the kids outside playing, dressed as cute as could be, and smelling freshly bathed. Everyone still had all their appendages, and looked well fed and rested (couldn’t say the same for Daddy). I would consider this to be a successful first…maybe I’ll be ready to do it again in 6 months or so!
