December 26- Ella's 9-mo. check-up
Ella had her 9-month check-up today. This time we had the appointments split up just by happen chance, but I have to say, it’s a whole lot easier to only take one baby to the doctor than to take two. So, Michael and Sterling stayed home while I took Ella in for her appointment.
She weighed 16lbs. 3oz., was 28in. long, and her head circumference was 44.5cm. She grew 2 inches and is still in the 50tth percentile there. Her head has also grown and is now in the 75th percentile (up from the 50th), but her weight has dropped down to the 10th percentile. The doctor says this is completely normal and nothing to worry about. She’s getting adequate nutrition, because her height and head circumference are continuing to grow. She’s just so active crawling around and pulling up that she’s burning a large amount of the calories she takes in. Oh, and this is kind of sad. Her soft spot has closed. Just one more part of babyhood we’re saying good-bye to. She had to have 4 shots, and a heel prick to check her iron (hematocrit), and platelet levels. Irons good, she’s not anemic, and she has 408,000 platelets. I don’t think we would’ve ever thought twice about platelets before our little buddy Maddox was born affected with NAIT.
Since she was so brave at the doctor’s office, and only screamed her head off for a minute, Ellabell got to open up another one of her Christmas presents when we got home from the doctor’s today. The funny thing is, she really thought her first baby doll was very interesting. She kept touching it’s nose and lips. It’s very soft and squeezable. Think she may have found a new friend.
Since yesterday was so cold and dreary, we had to wait until today to take Ella and Sterling for a spin in their new ride. They seemed to enjoy this new way of strolling. I think they particularly liked being able to sit facing each other. I think this is one toy we’ll get years of use out of.
Even with the sun out, it was still pretty chilly during our afternoon wagon ride. Sterling stayed pretty cozy in his little hounds tooth coat.
Doesn’t Ellabell look très chic in her Christmas coat and velvet hat?
