April 21- We're still alive!
You’ll have to forgive me for not blogging this past week…and what a week we’ve had! We’re staying busy as always, but today the kids are with the nanny for 3 hours, so you can all thank her for giving me the opportunity to update my blog. I’ve also been working very hard on a very exciting project that you will all have access to once it’s complete…oh the suspense! Don’t worry, you won’t be disappointed!
Big events of this past week: Sterling has a molar! No kidding! He’s been sticking his tongue out the side of his mouth for a couple of days, so I told Michael to stick his finger in there. I wasn’t going to stick my finger in there…that kid can chomp down with some force now! Sure enough on his upper left side he has a molar that has actually broken through. No wonder he keeps sticking his tongue out, I think he’s fascinated there’s a new tooth in there!
I guess probably a little more important than Sterling’s tooth is that bird flu has broken out here in Korea. Luckily we’re a couple hours away from where there have been reported cases, but we will certainly miss our Kyo-Chun chicken for a while. Essentially we’re just being told to not eat any poultry that comes from Korean farmers. The poultry we buy in the commissary is actually imported from the states. Of course, we received this advisory, and then I went out to dinner and ate duck! Gasp! I have no idea what I was thinking. Actually, I wasn’t thinking about the bird flu at all and it completely slipped my mind. Opps. Luckily, no harm, no foul (no pun intended). That was a week ago, and I haven’t started quaking yet. You can double click on the picture above to enlarge it…I’ve marked on the map where we are and where the bird flu is.
And lastly Ella has started clicking her tongue. It’s pretty funny. All the Koreans click there tongues at babies and say “aye-goo”. It’s just baby talk, well, actually, “aye-goo” would literally translate to “oh no,” or “uh-oh.” Ella has started mimicking this. She came home the other day from the nanny’s house just clicking away. It’s really very funny. Maybe I’ll catch it on video.
