January 27- Funny face

Ella has found a new face, and it’s a pretty silly one. Lately she’s been sticking her tongue out of the corner of her mouth. She seems to mostly do it when she knows you’re getting ready to feed her, but it’s so funny I keep encouraging her to do it all the time.
Sterling has found a new and exciting way of making food disappear. He doesn’t seem to care too much for Zwieback toast, but he gets a real kick out of holding it over the edge for Grand-Mère’s puppies to eat. Needless to say, Will and Grace (the dogs) are now swarming the highchair as soon as they see a baby in it. You should hear this little boy squeal with delight when the dogs eat the food out of his hand. It’s just too hilarious!
Ella on the other hand has no intention of sharing her Zwieback toast with anyone, let alone a dog. Poor Will, he just keeps following her around in the walker, waiting for her to drop a piece.
As always, there’s an upside and a downside to every new milestone these babies reach. Sterling has become very competent at sitting himself up. This is great in the mornings when I want a few extra minutes of sleep. I’ll walk in and find him happily sitting up and playing with his crib toy. The downside is that even when he’s dead tired, I’ll lay him down in the crib, and he’ll pop right back up. This evening I heard him crying after I had laid him down for his last nap of the day, and there he sat, holding the blanket above his head, trying to go to sleep. Poor little thing, it’s almost like the urge to sit up prevents him from lying down and going to sleep, even if he can barely keep his eyes open.
