February 13- Finally a family

This is obviously a big week for Ella. She’s surprised us yet again. Aunt Jennifer sent this toy to Korea just before we left back in August. Of course at that time this toy was way too advanced for them. This morning we were all sitting around the family room while the kids were playing on the floor. We realized this toy was making music, and sure enough, Ella was sitting there feeding the balls into it. It’s just so shocking to see them use cognitive thinking while playing with their toys. Truly, this toy is made for babies this age, but it never fails to blow me away when they do anything more than chew on their toys.
Since our new house doesn’t have a bathtub (only 2 showers), I was glad to find a new larger baby tub at E-Mart. (The one we already had here was for younger babies.) But the nice thing about this tub is it’s big enough for two! Sterling and Ella enjoyed splashing around together for the first time. So cute!
After months of seperation, we're finally a family of four!
Since tonight is Grammy’s last night in Korea, we wanted to do something exciting with her. We went to dinner at a Korean restaurant here in Wonju. Luckily, one of the ROK Army Soldiers who works with Michael, Sergeant Jung, joined us and acted as our “interpreter” and helped in ordering dinner. None of us could believe how much food there was! They just kept bringing plate after plate of all sorts of things, most of which we had no idea upon sight what they were. Some of us were more daring and open to trying the different foods than others, but we all had a wonderful time and left extremely full.
The meat is brought to the table raw, and then cooked over a grill set into the center of the table. We had bulgogi, traditional Korean sesame beef, which was absolutely delicious! After the bulgogi is finished cooking you pick it up with your chopsticks, and wrap it in a lettuce leaf ala burrito style. It’s sooo yummy! Everyone eats communal style, and no one has a plate. Hope no one had a cold tonight!
Anchovies anyone?
As is tradition in Korea, we all ate on the floor around a very low rising table. Sterling thinks this table is just the perfect height!
Grammy and Ella enjoy their last meal together for a while. God speed, Grammy!
