April 4-Lunch at the Golf Club
Last night we drove the 2 hours down to Taegu so Michael could play in the Fore Kids Golf Tournament on Camp Walker to raise funds and awareness for abused and sexually exploited children here in Korea. The tournament was an opportunity for parents to team up with their kids in a 4 man scramble. The lady in charge of organizing the tournament told me she had received Michael's entry form for the tournament and couldn't believe he had entered to play with Ella and Sterling. She had to kindly remind him there was a "4-years-old" requirement to enter the tournament, but she was able to team him up with the Hanes family and their 3 children (the same family who drove up for the kids' party a few weeks ago). Michael enjoyed the morning golfing while the kids and I hung back at the Camp Walker Golf Club. After the tournament everyone met back at the club for lunch. I must add, I was very impressed with the clubhouse. It was so nice...I actually forgot I was on an Army base in Korea for a moment!
After a very short game (only 9 holes) Daddy won the best prize of all...a dumpling!
Ella and Sterling concur; the best part of this luncheon was the French fries they found on their plate. Yummy!
Just in case Leah's reading this...thanks for letting us borrow this skirt, Lorelai!
Tonight we got together with a couple other families and hired a few babysitters to stay at one home with all the children, then all the Mommies and Daddies went out to dinner. We went to a very yummy restaurant in downtown Taegu called the Holly Grill. It's owned by an American and they serve Greek food. We all enjoyed a night full of hummus, souvlaki, pitas, and some adult conversation...which somehow or another did come back around to Elmo...go figure. This is one of the streets in Taegu at about 9:30pm. As you can see it's lots of neon lights, and tons of people. I wouldn't recccomend walking these streets if your claustrophobic, not only are the streets narrow with taxi cabs trying to edge their way through, there are just so many people. In any case, I believe all the adults had a good time, as well as the dumplings. When we got home at 10 pm (yikes!) they were still going strong playing with the other kids.
Don’t even ask how we ended up in a pelican’s gull…you don’t want to know! Luckily this fella’ had more of a taste for fish and was willing to let us go.
