March 19- Sterling's new ride
I had to share a funny story from today. Today was a day for the neighbor to watch the kids for 3 hours which was perfect since I needed to go to the commissary to pick up a few groceries. When I came home from doing my grocery shopping I passed the neighbor pushing the kids in the stroller. We've had really nice spring like weather the past few days, so I was glad to see them getting some fresh air. After I unloaded the groceries, ran a load of diapers, and washed all the dishes in the sink, I began to wonder when the kids were coming back. I decided I would walk over to her house and see if she wanted me to pick them up. On my way to her house I saw her...and about 7 other Korean women...pushing Ella in the stroller, but we were missing a boy. Then I realized that he was tied to one of the ladies backs! In Korea this is how women carry their children and grandchildren until they're about 3 or 4 years old. While the Bjorn style carriers are becoming more popular amongst the younger mothers, the older women are always wearing their grandchildren in the old style. It's very common to see a group of older women all with babies tied to their backs. I suppose it's almost like that generation's version of a stroller. Needless to say, Sterling was a very happy boy! He was completely knocked out and drooling on this woman's back. She carried him home for me where he promptly woke up screaming when she untied him and lay him down in the crib. I've been trying to win an Ergo baby carrier on eBay forever now, but they retail close to $100! Maybe I should skip the Ergo and just learn how to tie the babies on like this....or maybe I'll keep searching for an Ergo.
I wish I had my camera handy to get a picture of the very happy boy, but I didn't, so you'll just have to imagine it with the help of the above picture.
