March 12- Moving Day Part II, III, IV....
Who knows? We seem to be losing track. Today we successfully completed our 4th move in 6 years. Yup, do that math...we're gypsies! Oh wait, no we're not, we're just a military family!
Our household goods arrived in 4 very large crates this morning. (Very, very large crates.) We were authorized 3,200 lbs. on the governments' dollar. We clearly don't know how much our furniture weighs. We shipped 8,500 Lbs! Yikes! Looks like we should be expecting a large moving bill. We definitely shipped more than we should have in lots of ways. We have no room left to move! We've created mole tunnels between boxes, and have had to dig out a space to sleep for the night. The good news is everything seems to have arrived in one piece.
So, what took the movers back in the states a week to pack, took the Korean movers on this end a little under 3 hours to unpack and unwrap. By noon the movers had left us to deal with finding a place for all of our belongings.
Luckily we have found a new nanny for the kids. A neighbor lady will be watching them for 3 hours a day on Mon., Wed., and Fri. It worked out wonderfully today. The only down side to our arrangement is that she speaks about as much English as I speak Hangul...NONE. But in any case, I strolled the kids over to her house just after noon today. Her entire family is so excited to have the eggies (babies) there. Her husband, and 19 year old daughter were there to help watch the kids (she also has an 11 year old son who was at school today). It was so perfect. I could just look out the window and see the kids playing in her house or going for a stroll around the neighborhood. She really enjoyed strolling them around and introducing them to all the neighbors. When I went over to pick them up after 3 hours Sterling was practicing cruising around her family room and Ella was sitting next to her with her hand in the Nilla Wafer box!
Our kids have made us very popular. This evening after the kids had come home and gone to bed, I looked out the kitchen window and came face to face with about 5 of our neighbors. They had all come by to see the babies. Everyone is so excited to have the babies in the neighborhood now. Isn't that sweet? Looks like we've found yet another friendly neighborhood!
