March 04- It's snowing!....again
This morning the kids woke up a little earlier than when like to get up. So, at 6:30am, I brought them both in the bed with us to feed them. After they were finished drinking their milk they began pounding on the window above the bed (a favorite activity). Michael and I pulled the pillows over our heads trying to postpone to inevitable. After about 5 minutes of banging on the window and laughing, we knew we had to get up. We sat up...looked out the window...and it was snowing! Everything was white! Michael was crazy enough to go outside and film the snow for everyone to see. Watch it at:

Today we FINALLY began to receive some of the boxes I mailed prior to leaving the states. Some of the earliest boxes shipped were mailed out in January! We've been harassing the mail room soldiers in an attempt to find our packages which until today we had not seen even the first box. But today was a wonderful day! Michael picked up 7 of our boxes. I can't begin to tell you how happy and relieved I am to see our mail beginning to trickle in. Each box had blue tape sealing it that read "re-wrapped," as well as a stamp on it dating what day the box was re-wrapped on. I suppose the shear number of boxes coming to our address must have red flagged us for customs. I'm sure they were highly disappointed to find our boxes filled with baby clothes, toys, books, bedding, and other dull, non black marketed items. It hasn't helped our situation any that the mail room is only open a total of 13 hours a week. Apparently that's the job to have in the Army. They work 2 hours on Mon. and Fri., 3 hours on Thur. and a whopping 6 hours on Tue. Tuesday must be a very long day for them. It seems that smaller packages are arriving pretty quickly. I ordered a pair of baby shoes recently that arrived in just a few days. Very large boxes seem to be taking at minimum 6-8 weeks to arrive. And of course, there is absolutely no rhyme or reason behind which boxes are arriving. We received boxes that were mailed 3 weeks apart on the same day! Needless to say, this is not the most efficient mail system, but I'm thankful we're at least receiving our mail eventually. Can you imagine what it would have been like to be stationed in Korea during the Korean War? I bet people never received correspondences from home, and I'm even more positive that care packages probably never made it over the seas. Guess we'll just be thankful for what we are able to receive!
