June 15- Happy Father's Day!!!

What greater way to start Father’s Day than a big family snuggle in bed? In the mornings we always bring the kids into our bed to snuggle and kiss while they drink their milk. I can’t think of a better time of day for our family.
I know this is an especially poignant Father’s Day for Michael. Although the kids were born in time for Father’s Day last year, he was separated by continents from them and didn’t really get to enjoy Father’s Day the way a new Daddy should. This year he keeps saying this is his “first” Father’s Day, and it’s almost true. So, I’m going to take a moment to gush about what an incredible Daddy my children have.
When I was growing up, my Dad had a plaque hanging on the wall of his bathroom that read ’Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a Daddy.’ My sister made him that plaque at some girl scout father/daughter camp out he took us to; and if the idea of spending the weekend in the woods with a hundred or so screaming girls isn’t testimony enough of the incredible Daddy I had, then I don’t know what is. I got lucky, I got one of those one in a million Dads. I had a Dad who left very large shoes to fill; Michael has absolutely put those shoes on and over filled them with our own children.
It’s impossible to watch Michael playing with and caring for the kids and think that there could ever be a father who loved his children more. They are clearly the light of his life, and they very much so feel the same way. In the morning when he leaves for work, I always have a few tears to wipe away as Michael’s car pulls out of the driveway. And in the evenings when he returns home from work, suddenly no one cares about Mommy anymore…its all Daddy time!
Thank you Michael, for being the best Daddy Ella and Sterling could ever hope for. Thank you for loving them in a way that continues to floor me everyday. We love you…happy first Father’s Day.
Happy Father’s Day kisses from Ellabell to Daddy.
Eve, Ella and Sterling all having fun playing with the water table. Little Eve is definitely a water baby too. I think it’s interesting seeing their comparative sizes in this picture. Eve is 4.5 months younger than Ella and Sterling. A few moths ago that probably would’ve made a very big difference, but now they’re all really similar in size.
Ella thinks their new swimming pool is just great!
Ella wants Eve and Sterling to join her in the swimming pool.
Ella stops filling up the water table to take a quick drink from the hose.
Sterling says he’ll pass on the hose water and keep his drinks contained in sippy cups.
Ella shows Evie how to break out of Mommy and Daddy’s pitiful attempts at containing babies. When we’re outside with the kids we like to block off parts of the deck with wooden benches in an attempt to keep all babies where we can easily see them. Clearly 4.5 months ago this trick would’ve worked, but now Ella has figured out how to simply crawl over the top of the bench to escape. Looks like we’ll need to re-think our containment plan.
