July 9- I've got a job!!!
Actually, I probably need to rephrase that. I've had a job for the past 16 months. I've had the most wonderful and important job in the world, but now I am gainfully employed. Today I formally accepted a job offer to be an English teacher. I will be working with lower elementary school aged children at an academy here in Wonju. I'll work Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2-4pm. Only 2 hours a day...how perfect is that? So instead of trying to find things to occupy my time while the nanny has the kids, I'll actually be making a positive contribution to society! I won't have my own classroom until the first of August, until then I will proxy classes and watch how they teach here; but I can't wait to start! The director of the school seems very nice and actually has a 3 month old son, so she was very understanding of my not wanting to be away from the kids for too long, hence the wonderful hours.
I'll certainly keep you posted as I start my new job. I'm sure it will be another exciting experience from our time here in Korea!
note: The above picture is an advertisement for the hogwon (school) where I'll be teaching. It is called 'ton ton yong o'...which literally translates to English Academy.
The lazy days of summer are absolutely upon us, and boy are they hot! It's very hard not having central heating and air. We do have a whisen cooling unit in the family room, and even better, our nanny's husband just installed a a small unit in the kids' nursery, but it's still hot, hot, hot! Luckily the kids are very happy to spend the day playing outside in their pool or with the water table. Watch Sterling having a great time splashing in the water table at:

Notice Ella's hula skirt floating around her waist? She loves that hula skirt! I let her try the skirt on this morning before her nap, and let me tell you about the tears that she cried when she had to take it off to go to sleep. She was so excited when she woke up again to bring me her hula skirt to put on. She was even happier to get to wear her hula skirt in the pool!

S: "I don't know why we can't just stop and ask for directions?!"
E: "I already told you, I KNOW where we're going!"
