December 21- Ella's standing ovation
This has been a big week for Ella. On Wednesday night I walked out of the family room for a split second, and when I came back, Ella was standing up and holding onto the baby gate. I had to grab her so she wouldn't get startled and fall before I started screaming and jumping around. I guess that’s how you know you’ve become a Mommy. Seeing your child stand for the first time causes you to whoop and holler like it’s the Super Bowl. Then, as if she hadn’t already confirmed she’s a genius for the week, on Thursday night she began clapping. Grand-Mere and I were playing and saying “yea” to which she just suddenly started clapping. She was so taken with her new “talent” that she’d be crawling across the room and if she heard you say “yea” she’d stop, sit up and clap. It was much too cute. So, this week, we give Ella a standing ovation.
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Don’t you just love Christmas jammies with cute little hats?
Get off of me! Ella works to get her hat off her head.
I'll get you if it's the last thing I do!
Gotcha. Not to be defeated by the hat.
Violet is turning violet and Sterling is turning orange. (Hey, I'm glad he's not turning sterling.)
Sadly, the boy has become an interesting shade of orange. It’s especially noticeable in his cheeks and the tip of his nose. In fact, the tip of Ella’s nose is becoming slightly hued too. Don’t be alarmed, it’s completely normal when babies begin eating solids regularly to turn orange when exposed to a lot of beta-carotenes. So, all the carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, and mixed vegetables he’s been eating are causing him to be a peculiar color. Looks like we’ll be upping the peas, and green beans for a couple of days to even out his skin tone. At least we know he’ll have great vision, right?
