Evening of Aug. 15

It's Thursday morning here already in the "land of the morning calm." I woke up to some good news- well, good considering the situation. Mom has made it to Emory finally! She's in the ICU there, and has already started undergoing the evaluation process. From the beginning the doctors have reminded us that just because she gets to Emory doesn't mean she'd be undergoing the transplant surgery anytime soon. We've remained cautiously optimistic, but the speed and care with which her case is being handled now that she is there, gives us great hope. And we were so lucky to find out one of our long time neighbors and friends is a nurse in the liver transplant department, so we know Mom is being well cared for. It finally feels like we're headed in the right direction. At least things are moving now, and we're not just sitting around waiting for a transfer. Hopefully we will know more about her status on the registry and what we can hope for by Friday.
