A bit of good news- FINALLY!

Right this very minute the sun is shinning, and it’s pouring down rain in Atlanta. That pretty much sums up our emotions right now also.
We received the first bit of good news since all this mess began. Mom received an official MELD score of 39, and is at the top of the transplant list for all of Atlanta. The doctors speculate she’ll receive a new liver anytime between tonight and Monday. I can’t believe they feel it will move so quickly! We’ll only have a very short notice when a liver becomes available, but I’ll certainly attempt to keep everyone informed.
As scary as the prospect of going through a 12-hour transplant surgery is, it can’t get here fast enough. Mom is extremely sick, and everyday she’s getting worse. They’re going to stitch closed the hole that’s been draining the fluids off her liver. At this point she can’t risk being exposed to any infection. We’re still asking for your continued prayers through the transplant surgery and the recovery afterwards. Hopefully by this time next week Mom will be feeling so much better.
