May 3- Off again

Today we hopped in the car and headed west for one of my favorite events in Korea every spring. The e annual World Ceramic festival in Yeoju. This is the view about 30 km outside of Wonju on I-50 headed towards Seoul. I have always been amazed at how beautiful and unspoiled the Korean countryside is. This picture reminds me of our dear old neighbor in Florence, Mr. Lucian R. He’s a sweet old man, a dog pilot from the Second World War, who loves to paint in the Thomas Kincaid style. This picture reminds me of him with all the atmosphere in the distance. He’d probably love to see Korea.
World Ceramic Festival. This year’s festival was themed adventure of the fire. Neat, huh?
Artisans were on display showing how they formed their wares.
Even the bathrooms are shaped like earthenware! Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “a pot to…..”
Saw some people pounding rice into rice cake.
We saw a field full of pinwheels, and ate some ice cream. Don’t even mention the word “ice cream” in passing in Ella’s presence. She’ll latch onto it and repeat “ice cream, ice cream, ice cream” over and over again until you either go crazy or give the girl a scoop of ice cream.
Little boy sized pinwheels!
We met some new friends. Shook their hands and stared at them. They stared back in bewilderment. Dared them to even think about taking our ice cream.
Stopped to pose in front of some flowers while Mommy took our picture and Daddy complained that Mommy never puts the camera down. He clearly doesn’t understand my obsession with documenting their lives.
Luckily Daddy continues to happily comply with my requests for photos.
Just a pretty building in Yeoju. I’ve become very fond of Eastern architecture during my time here.
Yes, Coca Cola, loved around the world. A bottling factory in Yeoju. Makes this Atlanta bred girl fell right at home.
