Michael had the 4-day holiday weekend off in honor of the Fourth of July, so we decided to pack up the kids and head south for the holiday weekend. Our destination? Jeju Island. A small island off the southern tip of Korea. It's a volcanic island only about an hour away by plane. Of course, this is the first flight we've made with the kids since turning two. Buying 4 plane tickets when half of our passengers combined weights would still allow them to be checked luggage without an over weight fee just plain old stinks! Guess this is where twins start costing more than a singleton. Boo! On a happier note, we flew out of the small commuter airport 5 minutes down the road from our house. It was sooooo convenient being able to fly out of Wonju versus making the drive to Incheon in Seoul. Loved it!
So we settled in on the tiny little puddle jumper. Sterling decided as much as he loves planes, he'd rather fly in Daddy's arms.
So much for that full priced seat. No refunds were given. As soon as we were air born, this was Sterling....
I don't get it. As much as he loves planes, you'd think he'd be going biszurk. Nope, he passes out as soon as the cabin pressure changes. Guess he'll never make it as a pilot.
Thanks to a little boy behind us, Michael and I had a nice flight while Ella played with her new little friend. And the winner of the staring contest is...
Once we arrived on the island we had to take a bus an hour south to get to our hotel on the southern side of the island. Thankfully Ella finally gave out and fell asleep during the bus ride.
We arrived at our hotel, the Jeju Hyatt, rested and refreshed. The lobby has a koi pond running through it's center. Needless to say, Sterling was very interested in trying to pet a fish.
Luckily they offer bags of fish food for guests. I predict these will be some very well fed fish this weekend.
We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the hotel grounds and settling in. When I booked our hotel it advertised itself as being beach front. Well, it is beach front, but the beach is hundreds of yard DOWN some very steep cliffs. Magnificent views, but strolling on the beach requires a bit of a hike.
Isn't that a sweet picture of Daddy and son?
